B A N D   H I S T O R Y

AVENGING ADDISON

2005

James Vegas starts Avenging Addison in Orlando, Fl and this would serve as the launch pad for what would soon become Modern Day Escape.

NAME CHANGE, FORMAL LINEUP & FIRST DEMOS

2006

Modern Day Escape becomes the official name of the band with James Vegas on vocals, Nic "Bagel" Kolouris on lead guitar, Marti Rubels on rhythm guitar, Josh "Stitch" Quinn on drums and Jimmy Dozer on bass.

Shortly after the first official demo cd would be recorded with many songs eventually going on to feature on the 2007 E.P.

2007-2008

SELF TITLED E.P. & FIRST MUSIC VIDEO

Following up on the 2006 demos Modern Day Escape records the self titled E.P. with Jimmy moving to drums and Nick Sheppard aka "Shep" joining on the of bass.

 

The band would soon go on to film their first music video for the single "March Of The Dead" as well as hitting the road for their first tours.

Modern Day Escape would hit the road with Black Veil Brides and Get Scared for the Sacred Ceremony Tour in 2009 and in 2010 would perform on that year's Van's Warped Tour.

2009-20010

THE HOUSE OF RATS ERA

Modern Day Escape would soon sign to Standby Records and put out their first full length album; House Of Rats. The band would tour extensively off of this release and

in the while on the road filmed the music video for 'Maybe Holding Hands Wasn't Such A Good Idea'

2011-2012

WE ARE THE SYNDICATE

After the success of ‘House Of Rats’, Modern Day Escape would hit the studio to record their highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Under The Gun’. This album would see added hype with Sandra Alva, formerly of Black Veil Brides, stepping into the drummer’s role.

 

This album would see the release of two music videos, one for the single “Under The Gun’ and the single ‘Life’s A Bitch’. Additionally a lyric video for ‘The Syndicate’ would be released and it showcased several members of the bands fanbase. Modern Day Escape would also tour extensively off of ‘Under The Gun’ with notable acts like Taproot and The Bunny The Bear.

2013

NEW LIFE

At the start of 2013 Modern Day Escape would once again hit the studio to write and record their third full length album titled ‘New Life’. This album would focus on a more rock radio sound and aimed to widen the audience of listeners. The band would shortly upon the albums release hit the road with Ghost Town on a full U.S. and Canada tour.

2014

AN UNTIMELY HIATUS

In the early months of 2014 the band made a difficult choice to pull the plug and go into hiatus with no plans to come back. Sighting various hardships that are all to common with touring bands as well as a need to run out the clock on their recording contract.

2020-2023

THE RAT STILL LIVES

After a few chance conversations between vocalist James Vegas and bassist William ‘Von Rex’ Wenz in 2019 the band would formally end it’s hiatus in 2020 and record a new E.P. titled Transmutation that aimed to go back to more of the bands ‘House Of Rats’ sound but with some evolution sonically. 

 

Modern Day Escape would release a self produced Lyric video for ‘Revenge Is So Sweet’ and a self produced music video for ‘Worst Kind Of Curse’. The band would also see a guest feature from Travis Miguel of ‘Atreyu’ on their 2023 single ‘Bury The Wolf’.

2026

20 YEARS OF THE RAT

Marking 20 years, Modern Day Escape is hitting the ground running in 2026 and is currently recording their 4th full length studio album with the first two singles slated for fall 2026 releases. Returning to where it all started in Florida, Modern Day Escape have been returning to their roots to pay respect to the past catalogue of music while also pointing to the future. With a  plan to return to performing live shows and touring in 2027 it is fair to say that the Rat has returned. So buckle up and enjoy the screams, memes and laser beams!
